TRADE AND INVESTMENT RELATIONS BETWEEN VIETNAM AND THE EU AFTER TWO YEARS OF EVFTA IMPLEMENTATION

Abstract: This article analyzes and assesses the impact of the EVFTA on trade and investment in Vietnam. Using data on import-export and investment between Vietnam and the EU, the analysis results show that import-export appears to be increasing after the implementation of the EVFTA, but this effect of the EVFTA on Vietnam is not obvious due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Investment capital from Europe to Vietnam decreased after the implementation of the EVFTA, this is mainly due to the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic makes it more difficult to assess the effectiveness of the EVFTA

EXPORT OF VIETNAMESE FRUIT AND VEGETABLE PRODUCTS TO THE EU MARKET AFTER THE EVFTA IMPLEMENTATION

Abstract: Since the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the European Union (EVFTA) took effect from August 1, 2020, in spite of many adverse factors from the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam’s export of agricultural products in general and vegetables and fruits in particular to the EU market in the two years after the EVFTA has been improving significantly, from the awareness of state management agencies as well as manufacturers and processors to practical actions in improving product quality, applying the cultivation – production – processing process according to standards of good agricultural practice (GAP), branding, and developing raw material areas. It is from these changes and opportunities from tariff reduction that many Vietnamese fruit and vegetable products have impressively increased export value to the EU market. However, to make the most of the opportunities from the EVFTA, Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable products need to improve the limitations in export capacity. Within the scope of this article, the author studies the current status of Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports to the EU under the impact of the EVFTA, clarifies the advantages and disadvantages, and gives recommendations and solutions to improve the export capacity of Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable products to the EU market.

Within the scope of this article, the author focuses on studying economic relations between Vietnam and Germany, contributing to understanding the impacts of the EVFTA on economic relations between Vietnam and EU member states.

A STUDY ON EU STRATEGY FOR COOPERATION IN THE INDO-PACIFIC

Abstract: The Indo-Pacific Strategy (IPS) is a well-known phrase in international relations when referring to the United States’ foreign policy under President Donald Trump’s administration (2017-2020) and the current administration of President Joe Biden from January 2021 to present. These strategies are meant to balance China’s challenges to US interests in the region. In the case of the European Union (EU), this organization also officially announced a strategy for the Asia Pacific region on September 16, 2021, but not to counterbalance China. What message does this union want to convey to the IPS given that not all EU member states are present in this region, and what is the purpose of the IPS in the EU’s external relations? The study to find answers to such questions are intriguing academic concerns and also the main focus of this article, contributing to understanding EU foreign policy, one of Vietnam’s most crucial allies.

LABOR MARKET OF THE EUROPEAN UNION AND RECOMMENDATIONS TO VIETNAM

Abstract: The labor market of the European Union (EU) is characterized by a number of structural flaws, particularly the problem of persistent unemployment. While there has been some improvement, certain groups in society, such as women, young people, and older workers, remain underrepresented in the labor force. There are also new challenges, such as bridging the skills gap and reaping the benefits of the economy’s digitization. The article will provide an overview of the EU’s labor market, including the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and policies to support workers, as well as solutions and suggestions for Vietnam following the signing of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).
